Early Life Story

Vijeta Dahiya was born and raised in Nahri, a village in Sonipat, Haryana, in a farmer’s family. From the age of twelve, he developed a deep interest in theatre, which would become the foundation of a creative path that ran parallel — and eventually in place of — a conventional professional career. He completed his schooling at Holy Child School and Delhi Public School (R.K. Puram) before earning a B.Tech in Production and Industrial Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering in 2009.

After graduation, he joined Ranbaxy Laboratories as a Business Intelligence Executive working on SAP-APO’s demand planning module. He later secured a government position as an Assistant at the Ministry of External Affairs, using the stability of a regular income to continue writing, directing plays, and making short films independently. During this period, he worked on over fifteen stage productions and several short films. He eventually resigned from his government job and moved to Mumbai to pursue acting and filmmaking full-time.

Family Background

Dahiya grew up in a modest agricultural household in Haryana. His father, a teacher by profession, was initially unsupportive of his son’s decision to pursue filmmaking — a tension Dahiya has spoken about openly. His mother, Sushila Devi, stood by his choice and encouraged him to follow his creative path. This support proved decisive in his decision to leave a stable government career and commit to the arts.

He married Mamta Lohchab, a lecturer, on January 18, 2013. The couple has a daughter named Hayaat. His elder brother Vijay Dahiya is an advocate, and his sister Nisha completes his immediate family. He is currently based in New Delhi and works under the banner Unmaad Artworks.

Career

Dahiya’s professional journey moved through several distinct phases — corporate work, government service, theatre, independent cinema, political content research, and public activism. After leaving Mumbai’s film audition circuit, which he found unfulfilling, he trained in filmmaking and began directing. He directed two Haryanvi productions: Dararein (2021), released via an OTT platform, and Opri Paraai (2022). He also directed plays for institutions including Rotary Public School, Gurgaon, staged street plays across colleges in Sonepat and Panipat for Action Aid India’s gender awareness campaign, and led a filmmaking training program for volunteers at Vikalp Organisation, Jodhpur.

He has also authored two books — Power of Universe and To Hell With That Job — and writes poetry under the pen name Gulfam. His entry into digital political content came through YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, whom he approached after seeing a public call for writers and researchers; he went on to work as a scriptwriter and researcher for Rathee’s videos. On June 2, 2026, he was appointed as an official spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) alongside investigative journalist Saurav Das and IIT Kanpur–McKinsey alumnus Ashutosh Ranka.
