Hollie Noveletsky Early Life and Background

Steel work runs through Noveletsky’s family going back decades. Her father started the company in 1956 after returning from World War II, where he served with Merrill’s Marauders. As a kid, she worked odd jobs around the shop, doing blueprints, running errands, and later handling estimating and data entry.

College began differently than expected. She enrolled as one of the only women in a pre-engineering program, using shared university computer terminals late into the night just to get her work done. After clashing with the program’s competitive culture, a hospital stay for wisdom teeth removal introduced her to nursing, and that’s when it became her calling.

Hollie Noveletsky Education

Noveletsky earned her nursing degree from Rush University in 1981, followed by a master’s in gerontological nursing from Boston University in 1984. She completed a Ph.D. in nursing research at Boston College in 1996, then added a psychiatric nursing certificate from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2001.

Her father’s wartime service shaped much of the family’s outlook. After coming home from World War II, he spent years finding his footing before starting Novel Iron Works in his own father’s junkyard in 1956. Union disputes in Massachusetts eventually pushed him to move the company to New Hampshire in 1975.

But family life today centers on Novel Iron Works nearly as much as it did decades ago. Her husband, Dennis, attends many of her campaign events, though he has scaled back some to keep his own footing outside politics. Their son now runs day-to-day operations at the company, continuing the business into a third generation.

Noveletsky is also a grandmother, and she has said her grandchildren are part of what pushed her toward public service. Details about the rest of her family stay largely out of the public eye.

Hollie Noveletsky Career

Nursing came before steel took over full-time. Noveletsky worked as a registered nurse and later a nurse practitioner for two decades, specializing in geriatric and psychiatric care, and even taught nursing for three years in Boston. She also served ten years in uniform, eight in the U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps and two in the New Hampshire National Guard, reaching the rank of Captain.

When her father died in 1999, she stepped into Novel Iron Works full-time as CEO, despite lacking the technical steel background of her competitors. She leaned on her nursing instincts instead, treating advocacy for the industry the way a nurse advocates for a patient. That approach led her to testify in Washington in 2018 on a federal trade case against dumped Chinese and Canadian steel, and to help pass New Hampshire’s Buy America steel law in 2022.

Alongside the business, Noveletsky built welding training partnerships with other New England steel fabricators and a Skillbridge program that helps transitioning service members learn a trade. She ran for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District twice, finishing runner-up in 2024 and again in the 2026 Republican primary. She’s also traveled far beyond the shop floor for her nursing work, volunteering in crisis zones from Sierra Leone to hurricane-hit Gulf Coast communities.
