Early Life Story
Lindsey Granger was born on December 3, 1985, in New York. She grew up in the city with a strong passion for storytelling and journalism from a very young age.
When she was around 10 to 12 years old, she saw a young Black female reporter on News 12 Long Island. That moment changed her life. She decided right then that she wanted to become a journalist. She began calling herself “Young O!” as a personal tribute to her dream of one day becoming the next Oprah Winfrey.
Her mother worked for TWA Airlines, which gave Lindsey an early love of travel and the world beyond New York. That love of travel later became a central part of her professional work.
She developed a personal philosophy she calls “intentional unreality” — the idea of setting goals that seem impossible by normal standards in order to push past ordinary limits. This mindset shaped every major decision in her career.
Family Background
Lindsey’s partner, Kolyn Boyd, is a director and producer. Together they co-own Gilded Focus Productions and created the travel series World of Travel. He describes himself as a “closet historian,” and his passion for history drives the cultural depth of their content. 1
Lindsey has one biological daughter named Kynsley, born in 2021. Kolyn also has a daughter from a previous relationship whom Lindsey refers to as her “bonus daughter.” The bonus daughter lives with her mother during the week. The family lives in Denver, Colorado, in the Painted Prairie community. 2

Lindsey attended Temple University in Philadelphia, where she studied Broadcast, Telecommunications, and Mass Media. During her time there, she won the Marilyn Fife Scholarship, an award given to students who advance the participation of women in broadcasting and telecommunications.

Career Beginnings
Lindsey started her career as a general assignment reporter for Verizon FiOS1 News in New York. She then joined MSNBC as a field producer, a role she held for six years, working on Andrea Mitchell Reports and the Melissa Harris-Perry show.
At NBC News, she produced special coverage for the 2011 Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in London, and both the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions. She also created and produced the ELLE.com series Sole Search, hosted by Melissa Harris-Perry.
National Television
Lindsey became a national television host when she joined Daily Blast Live, a syndicated talk show produced by Sony Pictures and Tegna. Her direct and opinionated style gained her a wide audience.
One of her most talked-about moments came when she publicly criticized media coverage surrounding the death of Kobe Bryant in 2020. She called on journalists to report with more empathy and care, which sparked a major debate in the media industry.
The View
Lindsey served as a recurring guest host on The View during Season 25. Her appearances drew strong public attention because of her conservative political views.
In June 2022, she confirmed her affiliation with the Republican Party on the show. Co-host Sunny Hostin called the term “Black Republican” an “oxymoron,” and Lindsey gave a direct and personal response. Lindsey joined NewsNation as a contributor in February 2024 and became co-host of Rising on The Hill, a morning show focused on bipartisan political analysis and debate.
