Early Life

Heather was born in Carmel, California, into a devout Mormon family. She grew up with five siblings and was raised with strict LDS values by her parents, Susan and John Deans. As a teenager, she attended Brigham Young University (BYU) and even served a religious mission in France.

But behind the “perfect” image was a growing sense of discomfort. Heather has spoken about being subjected to invasive questioning as a teen within the Church, something that later influenced her decision to leave. After marrying into a prominent LDS family and later divorcing, she began to question her beliefs and stepped away from the Church — a decision that reshaped her entire life.
