X Mayo was born and raised in Inglewood, California. She comes from a middle-class Afro-Latina family. Her mother’s name is Cheryl McCoy-Gealey, but her father’s name is not public. Growing up in South Central, Los Angeles, she found joy in performing, drawing inspiration from icons like Eddie Murphy.
